When you come to stay in Shefford, Bedfordshire you need to know the places to eat and drink, right?

Here’s our guide, based on our favourite experiences, of where to go to eat and drink around Shefford.

Riverside Stays - The Hide Lounge Ampthill 1200px ImageThe Hide, Ampthill

Billed as one of Ampthill’s best kept secrets, we really love the Hide lounge bar in Ampthill. Okay it’s a little out of town (a ten minute drive from Shefford) but if you are looking for somewhere that’s great for breakfast, a nice lunch or a late afternoon drink, followed by cocktails, the Hide really is perfect.

Food is always hot, fresh and tasty. Service is sometimes slightly delayed as they do get very busy and food orders are cooked fresh, but it’s worth the wait and is a great place to enjoy a pre-food drink. Great atmosphere and setting.

Riverside Stays Shefford Tandoori 1200px ImageThe Shefford Tandoori

Located on Shefford High Street, the Shefford Tandoori has been voted one of the top 5 Indian restaurants in the UK. Owned for more than 25 years by the same family you will struggle to find a better place for Indian food.

Food is always really fresh and tasty. Service is always very good too, sometimes slightly delayed due to the high volume of customers but it really is worth the wait as the food is amazing. We love it here.

Riverside Stays The Black Horse Ireland Blog Image 1200pxThe Black Horse, Ireland, Shefford

Less than a five minute drive from Shefford, The Black Horse, Ireland provides very high quality food and drink. Sister restaurant to one of our other favourites, The Birch in Woburn, the Black Horse at Ireland is perfect for birthday and other special occasion celebrations.

The food and drink is at the upper end so expect to pay slightly more than other local establishments but the quality is very, very good.

A warm welcome awaits you at the Greyhound pub in Haynes, just a short drive (5-7 minutes) to the north of Shefford in Haynes. The Greyhound is perfect for mid-week meals and last-minute Sunday Roasts.

The food is affordable and has always been fresh and tasty. Service is very good, there is also a pub garden and it is fab for  pre-food drink. They have recently added a Tapas menu for mid-week too. A local, friendly welcome awaits.

Riverside Stays The Admiral Clifton Blog Image 1200pxThe Admiral, Clifton

A small local pub, The Admiral, Clifton is famous locally for its Fish and Chip Supper on a Friday evening and its monthly pub quiz on the first Saturday of each month. You’ll have to book for both early as the pub is cosy and always booked in advance.

Food is affordable and is always fresh and tasty. Service is very good, there is also a small pub garden. Walking distance too if you don’t mind a 15-20 minute stroll.

Riverside Stays The Crown Henlow Blog Image 1200pxThe Crown, Henlow

Recently voted as one the best places to eat or drink in Bedfordshire, The Crown at Henlow is a great place to head to for good food and a great outside garden. We like the bar food menu, where you get the choice to eat outside too.

The restaurant food is great too, service very good, although drinks can be a little pricey. Walking distance if you don’t mind a 25-30 minute stroll each way.
